MTFEE Announces Second Annual Family Movie Day - September 13, 2012

MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
TO HOST SECOND ANNUAL “FAMILY MOVIE DAY” OCTOBER 14

Winning Movie to be Voted On By Millstone Twp. Students & Announced at Millstone Day

MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, NJ, September 13, 2012 – Millstone Township Foundation for Educational Excellence (MTFEE) will be hosting its second annual “Family Movie Day” on October 14 at the Millstone Township Performing Arts Center (MPAC) at 5 Dawson Court. MTFEE is a non-profit organization devoted to funding grants for items that nurture extraordinary educational experiences for every student in the Millstone Township School District.

To build excitement and get the students involved, the foundation is asking the teachers in the Primary and Elementary schools to poll their students on several popular family-friendly movies. The winning movie will be announced at the MTFEE booth at Millstone Day on September 23rd at Frogbridge. Visit the booth to be the first to find out.

Pre-movie kid’s activities including carnival games, Halloween-themed crafts and games, face painting and tattoos are planned to begin at 1:00 p.m. The movie will start at 2:30 p.m. A concession stand will be available for refreshments.

A $5 minimum donation is requested with advanced R.S.V.P. $6 at the door. Donations will help provide grant funding for innovative and exciting classroom programs, educational opportunities for students, staff development, and state-of-the-art teaching materials that are beyond the scope of the general school budget. Families who pre-order tickets online will be entered into a raffle to win either a “Family Four Pack Movie Night,” which includes four AMC “Gold” movie passes (does not have a “current release” movie restriction, like other passes), two fountain sodas, and popcorn or one of four “Date Night Packs,” which include two AMC “Gold” movie passes. There will be one winner per family.

“MTFEE is looking forward to hosting Family Movie Day again, following the success of last year’s event,” said Nicole Pyhel, president and information officer for MTFEE. “In addition to being a fun event for families to add to their fall calendar, the donations will help fund grants for Millstone Township students.”

MTFEE operates independently from the school district and replenishes its grant fund exclusively through private donations and its fundraising efforts. The foundation has awarded more than $432,000 in grants to Millstone Township schools since 2002. MTFEE grants, which have been awarded at every grade level and in every discipline, have included SMARTBoards®, mobile computer and iPad™ labs, and a rock climbing wall. MTFEE was the first organization in the district to put iPads™ into the classroom in the spring of 2011.

There are currently more than 60 MTFEE-funded grant programs running. Every child that matriculates through the school district will in some way benefit from an MTFEE-funded grant. MTFEE is a member of New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership and The National Consortium of State and Local Education Foundations (NCEFS).
